FM 518 IMPROVEMENTS FROM FM 2094 TO SH 146, LEAGUE CITY, TEXAS
OTHON was retained by TxDOT to design improvements for 3.8 miles of roadway to increase safety and reduce roadway congestion to accommodate the growing population of League City. The project runs from FM 2094 to SH 146 through the urban areas of League City and the City of Kemah. The project involved the widening of the two lane, open ditch facility to a four lane divided curb and gutter facility with a raised median and a storm sewer system. Since the area is among the fastest growing locally, the design allows for future expansion of the facility to a six lane divided highway. OTHON managed the contract and prepared the plans, specifications and estimate. The design for the roadway and intersection included signing and striping, signalization, traffic control, and an at-grade railroad crossing. OTHON also prepared the Primavera construction schedule. Other
- Preliminary engineering design for 3.8 mile, four-lane project from FM 2094 to SH 146 including proposed and ultimate typical section design, design of horizontal alignment and vertical profile considering 2, 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 year water surface elevation impact;
- Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, intersection configuration design and development, traffic signal studies; and
- Raised median design, culvert extensions, GEOPAK cross-sections, utility layouts and relocation.
