Traffic Project Manager

OTHON, Inc. is a civil, transportation infrastructure, and construction management firm providing design and engineering services for various transportation agencies around the state. We are seeking a candidate for Traffic Project Manager position in our Richardson, Texas office.


Job Description

  • Performs traffic engineering and planning studies, develops plans and specifications, and prepares cost estimates and project reports

  • Supervises Project Engineers, EITs, and CAD technicians

  • Schedules work for all team members

  • Mentors younger staff

  • Reports to the department manager and works closely with all project disciplines

  • Manages project design schedules, budgets and scope

  • Responsible for project quality control. Involved with planning, design and construction phases of projects

  • Coordinates with the client and is responsible for meeting client schedules and budgets

  • Coordinates with local office and firm management to set, manage, and achieve specific office and firm goals

  • Assists and sometimes leads business development efforts to identify, pursue and win new work for the office and firm as a whole

This position requires self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and as part of a larger team in order to work toward common goals in serving our clients. This position may include providing engineering services for the following areas of traffic engineering:

  • Preparation of PS&E including traffic signal, signing and pavement marking, Illumination and  ITS design

  • Traffic forecasting and Transportation planning

  • Traffic Signal Timing

  • ITS planning and design

  • Freeway and Arterial Capacity/Operational Analysis

  • Traffic Impact Analysis (TIA)

  • Intersection design and analysis

  • Micro-simulation modeling

  • Bicycle and pedestrian facility planning and design

 

Minimum Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university

  • 8-12 years of project experience in the field of traffic/transportation Engineering

  • Demonstrated project management experience

  • Licensed Texas Professional Engineer or ability to obtain within 6 months

  • Proficiency in Synchro, MicroStation, and Highway Capacity Software (HCS)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail

  • Ability to lead and manage multiple traffic/transportation projects

 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • PTOE, PTP, RAS certifications preferred

  • Proficiency in VISSIM

  • Precertification in TxDOT work Categories

  • Local DFW project experience
