Please describe your role at OTHON

As a Graduate Engineer in the Planning Department at OTHON, I analyze traffic, transportation, land-use, and infrastructure data. I prepare spreadsheets, GIS outputs, and technical summaries to support planning decisions and assist with traffic projections, growth rates, and demand forecasting. My responsibilities also include reviewing TCDS data, turning movement counts, and planning-level assumptions, as well as preparing technical memoranda, tables, exhibits, and maps.

What inspired you to join the civil engineering industry?

I was inspired to pursue civil engineering for two main reasons. First, my brother, who is a civil engineer, introduced me to the field and helped me appreciate key aspects of the profession. Second, I recognized the essential role civil engineering plays in society. Regardless of language or cultural differences, engineering provides a universal framework for understanding and problem-solving. Additionally, civil engineering emphasizes strong ethics, responsibility, and efficiency—values that I apply not only in my professional work but also in my everyday life.

What has been your favorite OTHON project to work on?

My most favorite and impactful project at OTHON has been working on traffic projections, particularly for the I-35 corridor. I enjoy the analytical process of problem-solving, reconciling data, and developing reasonable assumptions. The I-35 corridor presented significant challenges due to its scale and complexity, but it helped me gain a strong understanding of transportation planning and traffic analysis. I find the work engaging because it requires balancing multiple variables, much like solving a complex puzzle, which aligns well with my interest in analytical and strategic thinking.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy sports, video games, and spending time with my family. I value taking care of and spending quality time with my wife and daughter. I also enjoy video games, which I find both engaging and intellectually stimulating. However, my greatest passion is sports, particularly soccer. I am a dedicated fan of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), a French soccer club, and enjoy following the NBA and NFL, though I can watch soccer matches for hours.
