As a Team Leader, and the Engineer of Record, in the Structures branch of the Houston Engineering Business Group, it is crucial that I collaborate with the Structures Design Team by managing tasks, resources and responsibilities in support of both the structural elements and the overall project goals.
My interest in engineering was instilled at an early age by my dad who shared technical explanations with me about his civil engineering projects. That spark was later ignited thanks to a high school teacher and engineer herself, Ms. White, who saw my determination in her course and encouraged me to explore the field further. During my undergraduate studies, I recognized that bridge design could contribute to an impactful and long-lasting infrastructure shaping the world around us. It’s incredibly rewarding.
One of my favorite projects thus far with OTHON has been the design of two bridges over Henrietta Creek along a stretch of the IH 35 corridor north of Fort Worth, Texas. This project allowed me the opportunity to be involved in every phase of the design process, gain hands-on experience working with senior engineers and expand my perspective, allowing me to refine my creative problem-solving skills.
Outside of work, my friends and family help me recharge and stay balanced. Whether I’m watching an energetic Texas A&M football game, floating and relaxing on the water in the warm sun, exploring a new place or planning an excursion around a Buffalo Bills game, I make sure those moments are spent with people I care about.
