FM 156 Widening Schematic
Haslet, Texas
OTHON is leading the preliminary engineering and schematic design for the $91M FM 156 widening project—a 5.4-mile corridor serving Haslet, Fort Worth, and northern Tarrant County. The upgrade transforms FM 156 into a modern four- to six-lane urban roadway with raised medians, storm drainage, multimodal paths, and enhanced intersections.
In collaboration with TxDOT and local stakeholders, OTHON delivered comprehensive studies, 3D modeling, and public engagement to develop solutions that minimize impacts, protect floodplains, and integrate Haslet’s trail system. Once complete, the project will improve safety, mobility, and connectivity for residents, freight, and pedestrians.
Cypress North Houston Road
Cypress, Texas
OTHON provided design and construction administration for the widening of Cypress North Houston Road and adjacent segments of Greenhouse Road in Northwest Harris County. The $2.3M project delivered a four-lane concrete boulevard with storm sewers, curb and gutter, asphalt transitions, and a new traffic signal system.
Meeting both Harris County and City of Houston criteria, OTHON designed a stormwater system integrated with existing infrastructure and led efforts in roadway design, utility coordination, and construction support. Completed in 2020, the improvements enhance safety, mobility, and long-term durability at one of the area’s busiest intersections.
SH 99 Grand Parkway: Segment E
Houston, Texas
OTHON provided full roadway design services for SH 99 Grand Parkway: Segment E, supporting TxDOT’s regional mobility goals. The $1M PS&E package included roadway and drainage design, utility coordination, traffic control, retaining walls, and cost estimation—delivered on schedule and in compliance with TxDOT standards.
Integrated hydrology, construction sequencing, and traffic planning ensured a cohesive, constructible design. The project advances one of Texas’ key transportation corridors, improving long-term mobility and connectivity across the Houston region.
SH 99 Grand Parkway: Segments H, I-1, I-2
Houston, Texas
Bridges Construction Cost
$60M
OTHON served as Lead Engineering Firm for the 23-mile design of SH 99 Segment H, spanning Harris, Montgomery, and Liberty counties. This two-lane toll facility with intermittent four-lane sections enhances connectivity across the 184-mile Grand Parkway loop, easing congestion and supporting emergency evacuation routes.
Our team delivered full design documentation, including roadway, drainage, structural, electrical, ITS/tolling systems, and traffic control planning. OTHON led the development of multiple construction packages—52 bridge designs, four traffic operations sets, and coordinated SW3P, TCP, and roadway design packages—ensuring constructability, compliance, and regional mobility improvements.
OTHON led the southern section of NTE Segment 3A—3.9 miles of I-35W in Fort Worth—under a fast-track design-build program. Working amid peak bi-directional traffic, our team advanced the corridor from schematic refinement to full PS&E, coordinating with TxDOT, the City of Fort Worth, railroads, and utility owners to accelerate delivery while maintaining traffic flow.
We delivered comprehensive design services including roadway, drainage, and structural design for 26 bridges, traffic control planning, ITS/tolling systems, environmental documentation, and multimodal enhancements. Opened ahead of schedule and within budget, the project earned ENR TX/LA’s Best Highway/Bridge award (2019) and now provides safer, higher-capacity travel with improved pedestrian connectivity.
