CAD Technician

Job Description

  • Produce drawings, layouts, sketches, maps, and graphic representations of engineering designs for transportation clients using computer aided drafting software
  • Assists Task Leaders, Project Engineers, and Senior Engineers in the development of engineering plans and quantities for road, drainage, and traffic designs
  • Maintain client specific CAD standards and workspaces

This position requires self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and as part of a larger team in order to work toward common goals in serving our clients. This position MAY include providing drafting services for the following areas of design:

  • Roadway
  • Drainage
  • Toll Facilities
  • Intersection Improvements
  • Pedestrian Facilities
  • Erosion Control
  • Traffic Control
  • Signing
  • Pavement Markings
  • Retaining Walls

Additional responsibilities may also include cross-training for assisting in the following areas of drafting:

  • Traffic Signals
  • Illumination
  • Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)

 

A CAD Technician conceptualizes the initial civil design approach and assists in implementing detailed design through the overall project development process, resolving a variety of complex problems, and reviewing plans and preparing technical specifications, contract documents and cost estimates.

 

Minimum Skills and Experience

  • 1+ years of Microstation CAD software experience preferred
  • Hands on experience with Geopak preferred
  • Applied knowledge with OpenRoads software is preferred
  • Identify and resolve design issues effectively and efficiently
  • Able to work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with design and construction teams in a positive and proactive manner
  • A strong work ethic and attention to detail

 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Hands on experience using MicroStation
