CAD Technician
Job Description
- Produce drawings, layouts, sketches, maps, and graphic representations of engineering designs for transportation clients using computer aided drafting software
- Assists Task Leaders, Project Engineers, and Senior Engineers in the development of engineering plans and quantities for road, drainage, and traffic designs
- Maintain client specific CAD standards and workspaces
This position requires self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and as part of a larger team in order to work toward common goals in serving our clients. This position MAY include providing drafting services for the following areas of design:
- Roadway
- Drainage
- Toll Facilities
- Intersection Improvements
- Pedestrian Facilities
- Erosion Control
- Traffic Control
- Signing
- Pavement Markings
- Retaining Walls
Additional responsibilities may also include cross-training for assisting in the following areas of drafting:
- Traffic Signals
- Illumination
- Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
A CAD Technician conceptualizes the initial civil design approach and assists in implementing detailed design through the overall project development process, resolving a variety of complex problems, and reviewing plans and preparing technical specifications, contract documents and cost estimates.
Minimum Skills and Experience
- 1+ years of Microstation CAD software experience preferred
- Hands on experience with Geopak preferred
- Applied knowledge with OpenRoads software is preferred
- Identify and resolve design issues effectively and efficiently
- Able to work under tight deadlines
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with design and construction teams in a positive and proactive manner
- A strong work ethic and attention to detail
Desired Skills and Experience
- Hands on experience using MicroStation
