Regional Transportation Manager

Job Description

OTHON, Inc. is currently seeking a Regional Transportation Manager for immediate employment at the Houston, TX location.  We are looking for a self-motivated, aggressively enterprising individual wanting to expand their career opportunities within a growing consulting engineering firm.  The qualified applicant will be a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Texas with experience in managing the panning and design of highways and other related transportation projects. The applicant will manage and build a team that performs the following tasks:  detailed design calculations in support of signed and sealed plan sheets; preliminary layouts, specifications, bill of quantities and final plan sheets; manage the work of other engineers; train and mentor less staff; supervise and review the work of CAD drafting technicians; work closely with other disciplines within the company.  The Regional Transportation Manager will report to and be under the supervision of the Houston Regional Manager.

 

  • Manage and build a team that develops schematics, plans, specifications, cost estimates, studies and reports
  • Supervises Project Managers, Engineers, EITs, and CAD technicians
  • Schedules work for all team members
  • Mentor Team
  • Coordinates and works closely with all project disciplines
  • Manages Team Financials and Support Marketing Efforts
  • Responsible for team’s quality control. Manages planning, design and construction phase projects
  • Leads Coordination with the client and is responsible for meeting client schedules and budgets
  • Coordinates with local office and firm management to set, manage, and achieve specific office and firm goals

 

This position requires self-motivation and the ability to manage and build a large team working toward common goals in serving our clients. This position will include managing and building a team that provides engineering services for the following areas of design:

  • Roadway
  • Drainage
  • Toll Facilities
  • Intersection Improvements
  • Pedestrian Facilities
  • Erosion Control
  • Traffic Control
  • Signing
  • Pavement Markings
  • Retaining Walls

 

Minimum Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
  • 10-15 years of experience of managing transportation projects in the Civil Engineering field
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas, or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microstation and Geopak
  • Strong people skills and communication skills
  • Able to lead, build and manage the team

 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Proficiency in Open Roads Designer (ORD)
  • Proficiency in 3D Corridor Model
  • Precertification in TxDOT work categories
  • Design-build Management experience
